You know what seems to just hit ya right in the gut? When you've been in the car for 1,500 miles, and then you see the mileage sign for your final destination that reads "Blah Blah Blah - 100 miles." It's almost like a slap in the face. You're so close, yet so far away. That's kind of how the folks at Danchuk feel about their '56 project. Even though the project has come so far, the eagerness and anticipation in the final weeks is enough to make even the strongest man's knees buckle. When the '56 was picked up from Huntington Beach Bodyworks the big stuff was pretty much finished. All that was left to do was to start buttoning up the small things.
Lets rephrase that-the tasks at hand may be small in size, but not in job. Back at Danchuk, the team is knee-deep in assorted colors of wires and shiny metal pieces. Yep, you guessed it; it's time to start what most consider a nightmare-wiring and assembling the interior. Danchuk used all new wiring to ensure safety and a clean look. Along with wiring the dash assembly, heater assembly, controls, glovebox, steering column-we'll just stop there and say everything but the actual upholstery was handled at Danchuk. On a side note, all the new pieces were selected from the Danchuk catalog. They also yanked a new windshield and side glass from their inventory of Tri-Five parts. Other than that, they tied up any loose ends before the '56 went on its final journey to the upholstery shop.
