The 2004R valvebody's shift...
The 2004R valvebody's shift plate is modified to Art Carr's specifications.
Art Carr's California Performance Transmissions sells its transmissions like Burger King sells its food-any way you want it. The basic 250-horse-capable 2004R transmission begins at about $1,600 without extras, plus shipping. A 400-horsepower version begins at $1,799 without any extras (plus shipping). The 800 horsepower-capable 2004R's pricing begins at $2,400. All Extreme Duty 2004R internal components are available individually. A complete transmission parts kit, part number 11251 (less friction band) is $295. Visit the CPT website for more product and pricing information.
Author's Note:
California Performance Transmissions is the only company Art Carr is affiliated with. He sold his original company, Art Carr Transmissions, in 1997, only to see it move to Abilene, Texas, as well as Northridge, California. He is not part of either company.
The governor on the right... The governor on the right has lightened weights on the secondary side, which lets the transmission shift at much higher engine rpm. | Seen here is a heavy-duty... Seen here is a heavy-duty accumulator spring in place. It acts like a shock absorber. A heavier spring means faster shifts. The springs and special valve body parts modifications are available in its Hi-Tech valvebody kit, part number 12001. | The transmission front pump's... The transmission front pump's slide spring was replaced with a heavy-duty unit. |
The factory seven-vane front... The factory seven-vane front pump rotor was replaced with this 10-vane unit. It is available separately under part number 17701. It eliminates fluid pressure oscillation at high rpm. | The original servo assembly... The original servo assembly (bottom two pieces) is replaced with a larger capacity, billet aluminum servo. It strengthens Second-gear capacity. It can be had solo under part number 12279. | Every California Performance... Every California Performance Transmission "Mega" torque converter features furnace-brazed turbine fins (left) and a whole lot more. Without this feature, the fins will bend and distort under continued high-performance use. Art Carr and C.P.T. has converter combinations and sizes (9-, 10-, 12-inch) to go with the 200R4 for the best performance levels. Stall speeds available range from 1,800 to 4,000 rpm. |
To eliminate the torque converter... To eliminate the torque converter "lockup" feature, this non-lockup converter valve is installed. Its part number is 17008. | Every California Performance... Every California Performance Transmission-built transmission is fully tested on the C.P.T. transmission dyno. Exact pressure readings must be met in every gear and during every gear change. | |
