6. After applying assembly lube to the first group of lobes and journals, we carefully installed it, making sure not to nick any of the lobes as it went through the cam journals in the block. Our roller cam specs out at 0.510/0.510 lift, 110-degree lobe separation, and duration at 0.050 of 206 on the intake and 212 on the exhaust. The specified power band is 1,000-5,000 rpm. While it has the same net lift and lobe separation angle as our flat tappet camshaft, the roller’s lesser duration means it’s slightly milder than the flat tappet. But, with a roller profile, we should gain significant torque and horsepower through the bottom and mid range with only a slight sacrifice of peak horsepower.
