Dale set the timing to 36 total degrees. According to Barry, many enthusiasts don't even know what their timing is set at, causing huge problems when trying to obtain a good idle. Barry usually suggests an initial setting of around 16-18 degrees at idle. The end result with the smaller camshaft and the Six Shooter Max was pretty impressive, netting us improved power and torque gains throughout the run, but hampering our max output by approximately 13-hp and 5 lb-ft of torque. We'll take seat of the pants torque gain down low before an additional max horsepower gain at top rpm any day of the week, especially in a street car.
