Mikey Curtis, our engine builder, sets the block on the floor to begin the build, and adds some Clevite assembly lube to the mains. He swears by his "floor" method for big-blocks, something he learned from Bob Glidden back in the day. Mikey mentioned that this helps deter distortion to the block.

Next came the time-consuming process of fitting the wrist pins in order to mate the pistons to the Eagle connecting rods. Two of these little spiral-locks per side took every last ounce of patience Mikey (and our photographer!) had. But we got them on and they are definitely worth the effort.

After file-fitting all the piston rings, Mikey used a ring compressor tool to fit the slugs in their new homes. The upper rings were gapped at .024 and the bottom at .022.
