Chevy LT1 Engine Build - LT1 2-Go...Almost
Factory fuel rails were supplied... Factory fuel rails were supplied new from our friends at GM Performance Parts. Assembling the system was pretty basic; each end-tube fit into machined holes in the aluminum rails and was sealed by rubber O-rings, then held in place by small clamps. | To build big power and torque... To build big power and torque numbers you need to make a lot of fuel available. With these MSD 72-pound injectors releasing fuel, we're sure our big-inch mouse won't starve. Fitting them to the fuel rails took a little practice, but once we got the hang of it, it was a snap. | One thing that was important... One thing that was important was to be sure to lubricate the O-ring seals at both ends of the injector before installing then in the rails and the intake port. | Here's a shot of the rails... Here's a shot of the rails complete with injectors attached, ready to be installed in the intake ports. | Once the rails and injectors... Once the rails and injectors are in place, the next step is to attach the fuel regulator and requisite return line. The billet aluminum, fully adjustable, boost-regulated unit from Aeromotive Systems fit in the stock location to the OEM brackets, and even used the original hard lines that GM Performance Parts had sent out. Easy installation, indeed. | One of the crown jewels of... One of the crown jewels of our intake system is this all-billet carved 58mm throttle body from Arizona Speed and Marine. Akin to putting a Dominator on a carbureted engine, this beauty should allow just the right amount of air into the LT1's intake tract. | Here's the throttle position... Here's the throttle position sensor that came on the billet throttle body... | ...and here's the MAP sensor... ...and here's the MAP sensor that was robbed off our donor car's original engine and installed on the top of the intake manifold. Next month we'll talk a little more about the Speed Pro C-Com fuel management system and how all of the electronic sensors interact to help make the engine run for both power and efficiency. Stay tuned! | |
