02. The highly refined "fast burn" combustion chamber is the result of years of development combing the best of GM Motorsports and production manufacturing. They measure 62cc and GMPP does not recommend reshaping them or modifying them at all--polishing them is OK.

04. Usually, we'd say 210cc's is pretty big for a 9.4:1, 355-cid street engine. But the Fast Burn's raised-runner intake ports use a smaller-than-norm 2.00-intake valve to keep velocities up where they belong.

06. This shot shows the dual-drilled intake bolt pattern allowing the Fast Burn heads to run either a late Vortec-style intake manifold and gasket or a raised-runner-type 23-degree intake manifold.

07. The valve cover rail is an extra-tall design and the heads are also dual drilled to accept either perimeter-bolt valve covers or the later center-bolt covers so you can disguise them to resemble any set of heads.

08. Corvette LT4 springs aka "ZZ4" springs and lightweight retainers come standard on the Fast Burn heads. You can also plainly see that they're an angle-plug design, so not all headers will work with them.

09. These stock GM Vortec intake gaskets use locating pins to keep them in place on the heads and their hard plastic base with rubber sealing rings on every opening make them almost infinitely reusable. Check out the GMPP 1.5:1 aluminum roller rockers, too. They're self aligning so we didn't need pushrod guide plates.

10. GMPP also makes the single-plane intake manifold we used, which, except for the Victor EFI manifold, we ran in the last two months, was the only single-plane Danger Mouse has seen. Our trusty Demon 750 fed the fuel to the fire. We played with jets a little bit, and found the best power with 85/88 jets.

11. The GMPP catalog said that the Fast Burn heads work best between 32 and 34 degrees total advance. We found the best power with 36. Go figure?

12. For kicks we also tried some carb spacers. None of them really made much difference, which just means that the combination of cam, cylinder heads, and intake were pretty well matched up.
