The nine-keyway adjustable crank gear and the cam gear bushings and offset crank keys are all ways to move the cam relative to the crank position. The cam gear bushings require drilling, while the crank gear and crank keys require no custom work to install.
What To Do If Cam Is Installed Wrong
Calculated lobe centerline figure higher than on cam card.Cam is installed retarded, advance it to correct.
Calculated lobe centerline figure lower than on cam card.Cam is installed advanced, retard it to correct.
Duration At 0.050 Method
Find TDC and secure degree wheel/indicator.Zero indicator on cam's base circle (no lifter movement when engine is rotated).Rotate clockwise to 0.050, take reading.Continue rotating clockwise past max lobe lift to 0.050 and take reading.If readings match cam card +/- 2 degrees, cam is correct.
