We easily set the lash with Powerhouse’s EZ Valve Lash wrench (PN POW301555, 5/8-inch wrench with 3/16-inch and 7/32-inch T-handles) without the need of a third hand. We set the lash 0.002-inch tighter than the hot lash settings of 0.016-inch intake and 0.018-inch exhaust to allow for the aluminum heads to expand when hot. We rotated the Rat enough times to re-check the lash at each valve about five times. Yes, we’re nuts! As previously mentioned, because Comp’s solid street roller cams have reduced valvespring pressures compared to the competition, so regular valve lash intervals are much less frequent. This is also due to today’s higher quality valvetrain components compared to the stuff made in the old days.
