Dakota Digital Cruise Control - Autopilot Made Easy

The Classical Resurrection Is Now Under Our Control

Somewhere between remote control stereos, steering wheel button controls, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and so on, we felt slightly out of touch when talking about installing a cruise control kit. Yeah, cruise control has been around for a long time, but if your car didn't come with it, would you install it? Maybe you would if you drove long distances on freeways all the time. Or maybe the thought of installing cruse control makes you feel as queasy as it does us. For some reason, the idea of installing it ourselves just doesn't sound easy, and we have all heard about the not-so-complete kits with nothing but problems.

However, like everything else in the aftermarket world, someone came up with a kit that takes the pressure off of us, making something like installing cruise control, and having it work properly, seem doable. This kit from Dakota Digital is a microprocessor-based cruise control unit. There are very few wires to hook up, and it doesn't take up much space. In fact, the brain can be mounted under a dash, inside fenderwells, or in the engine compartment. There are many warnings throughout the installation guide, so we highly recommend reading it from front to back, just so you have a tight handle on what makes this unit work and what will make it malfunction. Other than that, this kit is universal so there will be many extra parts and choices for you to go through.

  • Dakota Digital Cruise Control Mounting Suggestion
The instructions recommend mounting the control box in an area that is at least 12 inches away from serious heat. In fact, this kit has been designed with enough length on the wiring and cable to be mounted under the dash if room under your hood is at a premium.

Before we installed the control box permanently, we wanted to show you where the main settings are located. These need to be checked and set up with the Switch Settings table in the instruction book. Do this now, so you can permanently mount the box and move on.
