A trip to www.projectamericanheroes.org gives the necessary information on the buildup and instructions for donating to the American Forces Foundation. For the first few months after the announcement of the project, the website provided our service men and women the opportunity to view seven renderings of the '57 and vote for their favorite. The votes have been tallied, and the car will be BLUE!

CARS Inc. had their bare metal 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible body on display, as well as a completed version, at the Detroit Autorama in March 2007. Not only were they causing a gaper's delay, they were enthusiastically handing out flyers explaining Project American Heroes.

In case you thought The Roadster Shop only did '32 Ford Roadsters, check out this awesome 1955 Pro Street/Pro Touring Bel Air Hardtop. Other projects include a couple Mopars, classic trucks, and a jaw-dropping 1966 Chevelle.

Behold: The Project American Heroes body from CARS Inc. When the body is shipped, it's securely attached to a pallet that can incorporate wheels for easy movement. All new U.S.-made metal is OEM correct. The floors are equally superb in quality. Extra effort to replicate the factory process is taken with the spot welds done in the same manner as factory.

Donor cowl carries a 1957 Chevy factory serial number. The CARS Inc. body maintains all stock body mount locations and, of course, the Roadster Shop does the same with their chassis. Stock mounting points for the radiator support and all inner fender panels are also preserved.

It's likely that most of the crew at The Roadster Shop will have a hand in building this special droptop. Standing next to the CARS Inc. body from left to right: Chad Glasshagel, Doug Leetzow, and Jeremy Gerber.
