World chose to use Manley 2.08 x 1.60 Racemaster valves, along with Hardcore valvesprings. For now, the stock GM 1.70-rockers are being used. Future plans may include a 1.80 or 1.85 fully rollerized piece. The carbureted intake of choice is the Edelbrock Victor Jr.
World Products installed an AED Performance Carburetor-built 4150-style 870-cfm carburetor for our test. World uses AED carburetors on all its crate engines for their power and reliability. MSD was employed to light the fire with its LS6 ignition system. This stand-alone system is specifically designed for carbureted LS engines.
With the engine complete, it gets bolted onto a dyno cart, rolled into the dyno cell, and hooked up to all needed power leads, sensors, etc. World uses 15/40 weight Rotella oil for break-in with GM engine oil supplement.
The proof is in the pudding. Shown on the left is the dyno graph for the 870-cfm carbureted 427, and the 1050-cfm on the right. Please note that these are just starting points and not final figures. Pretty stout starting point, huh?
