While California and Florida thumb their noses at the rest of America while Rust-belters put their cars away for winter hibernation, the Windy City decided to brew some sweet revenge with the best display of classic American Muscle in the US of A. Impossible, you say? Then riddle me this: how many legit Yenko Chevrolets have you seen in Orange County? Did any COPOs show up in Boca?

The 2013 Super Chevy Show at Memphis International Raceway was a huge success during the weekend of April 13-14. The entire staff was on site with cameras in tow to get coverage for the August 2013 issue of Super Chevy Magazine, which goes on sale June 18th. If you wanted to have a great drag race, but hide it from the world, you might well pick the Mid-Michigan Motorplex, tucked away in the potato fields of north central Michigan. But its here that virtually stock (a few minor mods are allowed) muscle cars of all types and sizes gather for an annual assault on the quarter-mile. It's called the Pure Stock Drags and it emphasizes maximizing what the factory gave you.

Every so often, Mother Nature tries her best to keep a Super Chevy Show from happening. She will turn on the rain and laugh that we gearheads missed out on an opportunity to show off our rides. Such was the case for the 2012 Super Chevy Show held at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas. A pretty serious storm rolled over the track late on Friday, so Seth Angel, the track manager, made the decision to cancel the Saturday portion of the event, including the highly-anticipated cruise from Ron Craft Chevrolet.

Last year marked Original Parts Group's (OPGI) 30th anniversary of being in business. "We couldn't have achieved the past 30 plus years of restoration excellence without support from our awesome group of loyal customers," said OPGI President and Founder, Dave Leonard. "So what better way to show our customer appreciation than with a car show?"

Bristol is always one of our favorite stops on the Super Chevy Show series. Every year the car show field is packed, the racing action at the strip top notch, the people are great to talk with, and overall it’s just a really good time.

Las Vegas is a destination that offers all kinds of things to do. Want to see disappearing tigers? Go see a show. Want to stuff your face till you pop? Just hit a buffet. Want to test your luck and try and win some money? Well, you can do that anywhere in the city limits—even at the airport!

Even though the Holley LS Fest has only been around for a few years, it has gained quite a loyal following and continues to grow. The 2012 event marks the third for LS Fest and proved to be a huge success with tons of action in every corner of the Beech Bend Raceway Park facility, located in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Whether you like drag racing, autocross, car shows, drifting or dyno competitions, LS Fest had it all and kept us quite busy when it came to covering all of the action.

One of the best things about visiting Castrol Raceway on Labor Day weekend is the fantastically cool weather that gives us a welcome break from the sweltering summer heat we deal with through most of the season. Being able to look at some great Canadian Chevys without sweat dripping from our foreheads was a beautiful thing, almost as much as the cars we saw.

Of all the Super Chevy Shows we attend throughout the year, the event at Bandimere Speedway outside Denver, Colorado, welcomes us with the best weather. The skies are dotted with little clouds and the air is cool with a slight breeze. It's the kind of weather that puts you at ease right up till you get close to the venue. That's when the sound of horsepower echoes off the mountainside and gets our adrenalin pumping. When Associate Editor Patrick Hill and I pulled into the gates, the pits were already full of simple bracket cars all the way to some seriously quick Pro Mod rides. We quickly became kids again oohing and ahhing and pointing at all the cool stuff.

It's hard to believe it's been five years since our first suspension challenge took place at he AMCI Test Center in California. In that short time, we've seen the aftermarket blossom with new offerings for classic Chevys to improve handling and performance. Our fifth installment, held in August 2012, saw the latest and greatest in action.

Here are the highlights of the car show at the 2012 Rockingham Super Chevy event. Hundreds of pristine Bow Ties were in attendance and the invitation-only Gold Class had some of the finest machines we'd seen all year.

When Tune Time Performance moved from its smallish shop in Toms River, New Jersey, to a more spacious facility in nearby Lakewood, it decided the best way to celebrate was to hold a car show and open house. The Tune event was held on September 22 and was presented by the South Jersey Camaro Club. All proceeds went to benefit "Ocean of Love" for children with cancer. Local high performance parts manufacturers Jesel, Manley and American Racing Headers were there, along with a host of the drag race and street cars they support.

This year's Maple Grove event was one surprise after another. The first was the weather. Usually July in Mohnton is like a steam cooker, but this year the temps were in the 70s most of the weekend. The second was the overwhelming turnout in the Camaro class, making show award picks even more difficult in one of the most popular classes in the series. The third was the turnout of over a dozen rare factory muscle cars of various types, including three '67 Z/28s.

Las Vegas is not a city known for its restraint and so it's only natural that Chevrolet would pick Sin City as the place to unleash some of its latest concept and production cars. Fifth-gen Camaros are also going to benefit from a slew of new parts from Chevrolet Performance--including some for the V-6 model.

For the past decade or so, folks in the American Chevelle Enthusiast Society (ACES) have swarmed middle Tennessee during the month of June to partake in a gathering of like-minded Chevy gearheads. Each year, the event is a must-go for Chevelle enthusiasts across the country, with participants coming from thousands of miles away to enjoy the company of fellow Chevelle guys and gals. For 2012, the event featured a similar layout to years past, giving participants a chance to display their prized A-bodies, and thrash on them on the drag strip or autocross course.

As the 2012 Super Chevy Show series rolled into St. Louis, it was hard to believe in the show's 30-plus year history we'd never stopped there before. While walking around the show, we were taken aback by the quality and performance of the cars in the field. As our ever-observant tech editor Calin Head put it, "There were just way too many 10-second show cars to believe. The guys in St. Louis like their cars quick and clean!"

Once again for 2012, the Virginia Super Chevy Show was a treat to attend. With a field full of unique and interesting show cars to check out, rows and rows of swap meet booths to scour for hidden treasures, and impressive duels taking place on the Virginia Motorsports Park quarter-mile, co-author Rod Short and I didn't get a chance to catch our breath till the following Monday.

After a two-year hiatus from, well, everything, Memphis Motorsports Park was reborn as Memphis International Raceway in 2011, thanks to the folks who own fellow Super Chevy Show host track Palm Beach International Raceway. Before it closed, Memphis was always one of the hottest shows on the circuit, and when the announcement came that the track was returning to the schedule in 2012, we knew it’d be a smash hit.
