The Camaro Performers magazine staff retains the Goodguys Editor's Challenge Cup Autocross hardware for the third straight year. From the event's inception in Costa Mesa, California, Camaro Performers has been the only magazine to win the award. In 2008, the first year of the event, Editor Nick Licata claimed the Number One spot in Stacy Tucker's '69 DSE Test Camaro. Technical Editor Steven Rupp nabbed the First position last year in his project car, aptly named Bad Penny, and by just 0.02 second, Licata (32.2153) beat out Car Craft Associate Editor Jeff Smith (32.2313). Licata brought his '01 Z28 decked out with every suspension piece he could find in the Global West catalog for fourth-gens.

"I really liked how the Goodguys laid out the event this year. Having the editors drive three different cars (Ford, Dodge, and Chevy) and averaging out the times of the three laps made it more of a driver's race compared to the past year's events where the car played a more important role in deciding victory," Licata says. "I can't tell you how proud I am that Camaro Performers has been able to win the award three years in a row. I know next year is going to be even tougher than this year, but I'm really looking forward to the challenge.

"I can't thank the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association for giving us magazine editors a chance to show our readers that we not only write about this stuff, but that we're way into it. I know Smith, Rupp, Henry De Los Santos of Chevy High Performance, and a bunch of other editors will all be aiming for me next year, but I plan on being ready for them as well."
