The 2014 Chevy High Performance Nationals is right around the corner! The third annual event, presented by Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center, kicks off a month from today in Commerce, Georgia.

Atlanta Dragway will host the 2014 CHP Nationals on May 30th to June 1st for the largest all-GM event of the year. Spectators will enjoy blazingly fast heads-up drag racing, 300+ MPH jet cars attempt to break the state land speed record, a loaded car show, burnout contest, swap meet, and some flawless pro touring builds killing cones on the JET-HOT autocross course. Drag racers will appreciate plenty of classes for the hardcore and first timers. Summit Racing is sponsoring the 1/8-mile Bracket Showdown and TREMEC True Street will take each car on a 30-mile cruise before making 3 back-to-back passes. Awards in True Street are given to the fastest overall as well as 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 & 15-second averages. Remember this class is all about average times, not reaction times.

Notable changes for 2014 include the CHP Street Machine Challenge. Any car or truck can compete in an automotive triathlon to see which is the best overall car. Braking (60-0 mph), quarter-mile e.t., and autocross times will be compared to crown a winner. This competition is invitation-only, so email ChevyHi@Sorc.com with a few images of your car and a detailed list of modifications. The reward will be lots of seat time with separate autocross sessions and staging lanes for the drag strip.

Another slight variation from last year, the 2014 CHP Nationals mark the very first race of the Chevrolet Performance LSX Challenge Series season. This four-race series features the fastest LSX-based cars in the country in three heads-up classes and two index classes. LSX Drag Radial hosts 6- and 7-second turbocharged, supercharged, and nitrous-injected racecars battling for traction on 315 drag radials. Meanwhile, LSX Real Street is a limited power adder class that runs on the smaller 275 radial or 28x10.5 slick and stock suspension. Both Real Street and LSX All Motor, for all-out naturally aspirated cars, typically run in the 8-second range. LSX Rumble is an open index class, and the 5th Gen Camaro Challenge is an index class for (you guessed it) 2010-present Camaros.
