There was a time in the mid-20th Century when any car that could run over 100 mph in the quarter-mile was a very fast car and C1 V-8 Corvettes were in that club.
In 2019 right out of the box Will and Donna Farmer's Torch Red ZR1 Corvette was born to run and a lot has happened since it beat the devil out of an 840-horse Dodge Demon at Richmond Dragway. The stage was set and Will Farmer of Mechanicsville, Virginia blew the doors off Dalton Willford's Dodge Demon turning a 10.20 ET at 137 mph but that was just the beginning the Torch Red ZR1 just keeps shaving time and getting faster.
Since then the Farmer's stock ZR1 has broken into the 9 second range equipped only with drag radials it ran 9.84 at 140.30 mph and then with the minor addition of a Chevrolet Performance cold air intake part number 84689752 it turned 9.84 at 142.79 proving Chevrolet Performance's cold air intake really works.
From there it was a strip tease Will reported, "We took it a step further by removing the spoiler and passenger seat and ran 9.64/147.15 We could not believe it, we joked that at 150 mph we would need a parachute!" Will an NHRA approved parachute for Corvettes be Chevrolet Performance's next great product?
