On January 17, 2018, John Williamson received a phone call telling him that he won the 2017 Corvette Dream Giveaway. “When I learned that I had won, I was shocked,” he said. “It took a while to sink in.” John has been making donations to the New Beginning Children’s Home since 2010. “I just kept making donations, because even if I didn’t win I was helping some good causes.” In 2017 he made a $200 donation and one of those tickets he purchased was the correct one. He won a 2017 Lingenfelter Signature Edition 800 HP Corvette and a 1963 Sting Ray coupe. His grand-prize also included $50,000 to help him defray the prize taxes.
Mr. Williamson worked for a steel mill in Steelton, Pennsylvania for 41 years. Now retired, John spends time working on cars and riding motorcycles. As fate would have it, at the top of his favorite car list is the 1963 Corvette split window coupe. He was all smiles as he walked around his Riverside Red prize winning Corvette. “I was 15 when that car came out,” he said. “I believe my words were when I first saw it: ‘Now that is a real car right there.’ Just the thought of owning one now makes me start to shake sometimes.” Congratulations John we know you will enjoy your grand prize pair of Corvettes.
