There’s something a bit different about the gasser being built at Woody’s Hot Rodz in Bright, Indiana. What’s different you ask? Well, it could be yours if you register and are lucky enough. Yep, this 1957 gasser is this year’s giveaway ride at the Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals this August in Bowling Green, Kentucky!
As Woody’s Christopher Sondles told us: “The All American was designed in my head three years ago before we ever built the first giveaway car for the 2015 Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals. I knew that we had to build each giveaway car with a different feel and look. I had acquired the ’60’s fiberglass front clip from a friend and knew right then how we would build the 2017 Golden Star giveaway car. Nothing is cooler than a ’60’s gasser, and nothing is more American than a ’57 Chevy, so why not a red, white, and blue; big-block; injected; straight-axle gasser?”
Aside from the vintage fiberglass front clip, this ride—including the body from Woody’s—is brand new and sits on their aftermarket gasser chassis. Under the flip-forward glass nose is a Hilborn-injected 502 big-block backed up a 4L80 trans with a 2,800-stall converter. The power will transmit back to a John’s Industries 9-inch with 4.56 gears. We bet the Chevy will run low 12s pretty easily.
The rest is all done in a period-correct vintage-vibe right down to the blue tinted glass and the hand-done pinstriping and lettering.
