Wide-Body C7 Corvette In Development by SuperVettes

View Full Gallery

The 2015 Corvette Z06 is the widest production Corvette ever built. And its little brother, the Stingray, is jealous since it is 40mm per side narrower. But SuperVettes has the cure. They'll turn an "ordinary" Stingray into a mouth-watering wide-body Corvette.

The SV7 wide-body kit will “rival the looks of the new Corvette Z06” according to Jason Hunkler, owner and founder of SuperVettes. If the production version of the SV7 body kit looks anything like the rendering, we’d venture to say that is a gross understatement. Its bulbous front fenders look like they are straight off the C7.R Corvette racecar. And if the C6 kits are any indication, the SV7 should be a real head turner – exotic yet still faithful to the Corvette heritage. Of course this comes at a steep price. The kit is expected to be around $15,000 not including a set of custom wheels ($5,500-6,500). The kit does include: front fenders, rear quarter panels, rocker panels, side skirts, front bumper, splitter, rear bumper, diffuser, and a spoiler. A C7.R-style hood is optional.

Of course creating a badass wide-body Corvette doesn't happen over night. Hunkler stated that the C7 Corvette was just scanned a few weeks ago (check out the videos below), and they will be designing the SV7 kit over the next week to 10 days in 3D CAD. After that it will take another 60 days until SuperVettes is ready to start doing conversions.

It’s too early to tell if the SV7 surpasses the GT6X as the ultimate wide-body Corvette, but it is promising that SuperVettes is committed to building ground-up supercars (not just body kits). Hunkler stated that SuperVettes will upgrade the power according to the customer and his/her budget. Bolt-ons, superchargers, or full twin-turbo kits are available. With a set of Borg Warner turbos boosting the LT1, you better believe an SV7-equipped Stingray can surpass the Z06’s (estimated) 625hp. And let's face it, the only thing better than a wide-body Corvette is a wide-body Corvette with a stupid amount of horsepower.

Our dealers are the best at what they do, and we are excited to be releasing the best wide body kit for the C7 Corvette.
