Livernois Motorsports Introduces 2014 SS Tune (Video)

Stephanie Davies Feb 21, 2014

Livernois Motorsports and Engineering of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, recently posted a video of a stock 2014 Chevrolet SS equipped with the 93 Octane Performance Tune strutting its stuff on the dyno.

The AIW MyCalibr8or device is available exclusively through Livernois Motorsports and retails for $599.99. The price includes custom tuning via Livernois, and dyno-proven spark and fuel adjustments.

Owners can expect a 27 wheel horsepower and 29 wheel torque gain in their otherwise stock 2014 Chevrolet SS, putting them at 368 horsepower and 374 wheel lb-ft or torque.

The device stores the stock tune and is compatible with most Livernois performance packages for the 2014 SS.

“This tuner is unique in the fact that it supports approved bolt-ons, and our in-house developed packages, many of which include camshaft upgrades, cylinder head upgrades, superchargers, etc.,” explained Andy Ricketts, Vehicle Installations and Shop Supervisor at Livernois."

So how difficult is the device to operate?

“AIW MyCalibrator is very straightforward to use,” explained Ricketts, “For most applications we preload the tune onto the device in advance. Some applications require us to send it out blank though, so the tuner can be used to let us know the OS it uses once the customer receives it so we can build the file and send it to our remote server.”

He also told us that all application tune updates are done the same way and new calibration is uploaded to the server whether it be through customer request or Livernois’s own update releases. The customer is then alerted that their new tune is prepared for download, and if they have not done so before, they can install the update client, plug the device into a Windows-based computer, and run the program to remove old files and restore new ones.

Ricketts let us know that because these are true custom tunes, the tuner cannot be used on multiple vehicles.

“The hardware itself is compatible with multiple platforms. However, when we designate it for a specific vehicle, it becomes married to the VIN and will only work on that vehicle. This is because it is a true custom tune, and the programmer is just the delivery vessel for that tune.”

Perhaps best of all, the tune includes transmission calibration with reduced torque management and modified shift points and firmness. Enhanced throttle response and deletion of skip shift on manual vehicles are additional benefits of the tune, which includes a revised rev limiter and read/clear DTC codes.

The tune is available for both 91 and 93 octane fuel – a major win for our friends out West (although they can expect different gains – 5 to 10 less added horsepower).

The 93 Octane Performance Tune is available for several platforms, including the 2014 Corvette and 2014 Silverado. We were assured that we can expect more supported platforms in the future as well.
