When we attended the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas, Nevada in November, we told you all about the Camaro revealed at the Classic Industries display. The ’68 was built by Bodie Stroud in conjunction with comedian and actor Tim Allen and Classic Industries.
This past week, the JayLenosGarage YouTube channel posted an episode featuring Allen and his beautiful Camaro, which features a Detroit Speed subframe and Detroit Speed suspension, as well as Brembo brakes and Wheel Vintique Rally 66 series wheels wrapped in Nitto tires. Under the hood lies a Chevrolet Performance LS7 427 cubic-inch engine with a March Performance a front drive and a forged steel crankshaft. Forged titanium connecting rods and CNC-ported aluminum cylinder heads bring the car's horsepower rating up to 505 with 470 lb-ft of torque.
Allen gives the background of the car by explaining, “Quick deal was there was a kid named Tom Sherwood, used to race one of these on Woodward when I was a kid. Green, this color, stock 327 – it was one of those things that was just a great bullet. It ran circles around any other car. I loved that car, loved racing with him. No console, it was the low-end one; it wasn’t the SS, so I redid that and I always liked Smokey Yunick, the Trans Am car that he made. And every time I saw one, I think one of the Edelbrock family has it now, and I’d see it race in these classic car races and there’s something about that car.”
Allen and Leno go on to take the car out on the street for a test drive before Allen lights ‘em up outside of Leno’s shop. Check out the video below!
