Two beautiful 1967 Chevrolet Corvettes are heading to the Mecum Kissimmee auction together this weekend. Both are spectacular examples of classic Corvettes and have been awarded Top Flight Awards, one in 1986, and the other in 2011. The Corvettes are being auctioned separately – the red ’67 on Friday, January 24th at 7:45 p.m. and the green on Saturday, January 25th at 3:00 p.m.
The Rally Red ’67 Corvette convertible with Black Stinger stripe features a numbers matching ultra-rare Tri-Power 427 cubic-inch engine (L68) and 4-speed transmission (M21), and was purchased new at Len Williams Chevrolet in Corpus Christi, Texas. It has undergone a complete profession frame-off restoration which was finished in 2011, the same year it was Bloomington Gold certified.
As it is a mid-year convertible, it is rare in that it combines the big-block engine with the Muncie close-ratio transmission and factory Four Seasons air conditioning. A 3.70 Positraction rear end, optional side exhaust, and finned aluminum bolt-on wheels with Redline tires, as well as a tilt-telescopic steering column, headrests, speed warning indicator, and AM/FM pushbutton radio mean this Corvette is the complete package. It comes with the NCRS shipping data report.
Meanwhile, the Goodwood Green ’67 Corvette is a three-owner car purchased new from Riker Chevrolet in Burlington, New Jersey. The original owner was a local policeman who kept it garaged while it was in his possession, putting only 19,000 miles on it in the first four and a half years of its existence before selling it in October of 1971. The second owner kept it until just recently when he sold it to a private collector. While its counterpart underwent a complete restoration, this Corvette is completely original and unrestored, with only the sock style bias-ply Whitewall tires and air cleaner lid having been replaced. It employs a L71 427 cubic-inch big-block V-8 producing 435 horsepower, paired with a Muncie M21 close ratio 4-speed manual transmission and Positraction rear differential. It also features power disc brakes, a K66 Transistor Ignition, and N15 side mount exhaust. A White Stinger stripe, Tan interior and Soft Ray tinted glass polish out the look of the Corvette which also features a matching auxiliary hard top. It is believed the car has 40,503 miles on the dial, and the original build sheet is still atop the fuel tank. All original paperwork and documents including window sticker, floor mats, radio tag, owner’s manual, and second title are included in the sale.
