Auctions America has kicked off the New Year announcing its line-up of upcoming auctions, one that always catches our attention is the Fort Lauderdale, Florida show. Coming to the Broward County Convention Center March 14 – 16, 2014, Auctions America plans to bring a long list of collectable cars, among the bunch is a standout, rag top 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454ci LS5 Convertible.
This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Convertible was originally built in the GM plant in Baltimore, Maryland and equipped with a 360-hp 454ci big-block. V-8. Though not as desirable as the LS6 outfitted Chevelles, this example is just as noteworthy. Topping the engine is a four-barrel carburetor that feeds the best, while a dual 2.5-inch exhaust (front-to-rear) allows the engine to breathe. All the power is then hooked to a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission. By the way, the drivetrain under that Chevelle is 100% numbers-matching. How cool is that?
Adding to the incredible rarity of this 1970 Chevelle SS’ condition are the options it came with: factory air conditioning, Cowl Induction hood, hood lock-pins, tinted glass, AM radio, performance suspension, bucket seats, center console, power convertible top, power brakes, SS wheels, dual center stripes, and of course SS badging. Having gone through a full body-off restoration, this 1970 Chevelle SS has “laser-straight” body panels. The classic SS has been kept in climate-controlled storage, ensuring the no-expense-spared refurbishment was maintained in pristine condition. We recommend getting to the auction in Florida to see this beauty cross the block; it ought to fetch a pretty penny!
