We've been bringing you information on the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational for quite some time now. Just to refresh your memory, the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational is a competition of the best street cars in the United States (and sometimes beyond) that combines five challenges to truly test every aspect of each competitor's performance. Throughout the year, a total of nine qualifying events have taken place, each testing both driver skill and vehicle performance. Select enthusiasts were chosen at the end of each event to participate in the Sixth Annual Optima Invitational, which took place in Pahrump, Nevada on November 9th. A 1965 Corvette owned by Brian Hobaugh took home the title of Ultimate Street Car this year, and a whopping seven of the top ten finishers were Chevrolets - we can't say we're surprised.
Presented by Royal Purple Synthetic Oil and K&N Filters, the event featured 58 participants operating arguably the most incredible street cars in the world before a massive group of spectators - the largest crowd in the history of the event.
Hobaugh took the title after taking top finishes in the Ridetech Street Challenge Autocross along with the Wilwood Disc Brakes Speed Stop Challenge. Mark Stielow, last year's champion, piloting his 1967 Camaro built by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering was hot on Hobaugh's trail and managed to place second overall in the competition, finishing just ten points behind Hobaugh. Finishing a single point behind Stielow, former OUSCI Champion Danny Popp and his 2010 Camaro placed third, rounding out a Chevrolet Winner's Circle.

"The drivers pushed their cars as hard as they possibly could, and their lap times show it. All the participants were fantastic, and all of the spectators at the Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club were able to witness a truly exciting event," says Cam Douglass, director of product development and marketing for Optima Batteries. "It was a terrific example of how capable and entertaining street-legal cars of all makes can be. All three of the top finishers proved their cars are truly exceptional performers, delivering outstanding results in each of the various driving challenges."
