Chevrolet Performance Sponsors NHRA U.S. Nationals
General Motors Company and NHRA have announced that Chevrolet Performance has signed a multi-year deal to become the title rights sponsor of the largest and most prestigious event on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series circuit: the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.

The event, which holds a place in NHRA history like no other is traditionally held on Labor Day weekend.

"NHRA and Chevrolet Performance are iconic American brands," said Gary Darcy, NHRA senior vice president sales and marketing. "We can't think of a better or more fitting brand to align with NHRA's greatest and most prestigious event than Chevrolet Performance."

General Motors and its brands are not unfamiliar to NHRA, having been involved in the sport since the beginning and winning its first NHRA Manufacturers Cup with Chevrolet in 1966.

"The heart and soul of Chevrolet Performance is on display in the staging lanes at the U.S. Nationals, making this partnership with one of the most historic races in NHRA Drag Racing all the more important," said Jim Campbell, General Motors U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. "Our engineers are continually developing new engines and engine components for Sportsman and Professional racers; and events like the U.S. Nationals are their proving ground."

The race is also the final event in the 18-race NHRA regular season where the Top 10 in each of the four Pro categories will be finalized for the NHRA Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship; NHRA's six-race playoffs.

On the team side, General Motors has a long and storied history in the sport with countless driver championships and NHRA event wins in both the Professional and Sportsman ranks. Currently, the Chevrolet Camaro is competing in the Pro Stock ranks, led by the flagship team of Ken Black Racing and drivers Greg Anderson and Jason Line.

Chevrolet's involvement is not limited to just the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. In 2012, Chevrolet Performance introduced the COPO Camaro built specifically for the dragstrip and to compete in the Stock Eliminator and Super Stock classes in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.

Meadors Dominates Firebird Foxhunt
For the first time in his racing career, Goodguys Rod & Custom Association President Marc Meadors hit the elusive drag racer's trifecta during the recent Little Caesar's "Foxhunt" drags at Firebird Raceway.

On a sunny Saturday in the foothill country of Boise, Idaho, Meadors and the hard-working Goodguys Racing team made five runs and in the course of those runs set low e.t., top speed of the race, and won the final. To sweeten the spoils, he set both ends of the track record for Pro Modified race cars. If that wasn't enough, he defeated one of his early heroes, John Scialpi in the final round to notch the first event win of the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod season.

Meadors sat atop the qualifying order, earning him a first-round elimination bye-run. While some teams might have just taken the green light and idled down track, Meadors and crew chief Jason Bunker "took a shot" and ran 5.915 at 246.10 to obliterate Bret Williamson's 2-year-old track record.

In the semifinals, Meadors and Bunker again were all business, dismissing Lee Smith's Mustang with a 5.937 at 244.76—a time quick and fast enough to officially back up the earlier 5.915/246.10 blast for both ends of the new Firebird Raceway Pro Mod record.

The final round came against one of Meadors' early Pro Mod heroes: Southern California's John "Wopadoo" Scialpi and his famous blown '57 Chevy.

Well past sunset, Meadors' '69 Camaro and Scialpi's '57 did their burnouts and loped forward to square off in the final. Scialpi pushed the Christmas tree and went red, giving the win to Meadors who legged out a 7.11 e.t.

In the end, it really was the perfect race day for the entire Goodguys Racing Team. "You dream of days like these, but any racer will tell you they're rare," Meadors said. "Very, very rare. My guys get all the credit. Crew chief Jason Bunker was aggressive, taking shots all evening. Sometimes it goes your way and it sticks."

Melissa Scoles Named President of QA1
QA1, an industry leader in performance shocks, rod ends, and suspension components for motorsports, is excited to announce the promotion of Melissa Scoles to President.

CEO and Founder Jim Jordan announced the news, stating, "QA1 is fortunate to have someone with Melissa's broad skill sets to assume this position within the company."

Melissa has been associated with QA1 since she was a teenager, as Jordan is her father. She started at the company folding boxes and worked the company's trade shows during college. She then worked through every department at the company, taking a break to get outside experience and obtain her MBA from Carlson School of Management. She studied in both Europe and Asia while earning her degrees. When she returned in January 2011, she joined the QA1 team again as Vice President of Marketing, to be quickly promoted to Executive Vice President and now President.

In the past couple of years, Melissa has helped lead the company to several milestones. She oversaw the acquisition of CAP Auto Products and Edelbrock's Suspension Division, adding over 350 American-made suspension products to QA1's product offering. She has also been integral in organizing QA1's new Composite Component Group, which will be introducing a variety of carbon-fiber filament wound products to the market for late 2013 and 2014.

ProMedia Management Changes and ProPledge Announcement
ProMedia Events, producers of the popular NMRA, NMCA, NMCA WEST, and LSX motorsport series, has announced key management changes as well as the release of their ProPledge program, which is designed for improved customer service. Rollie Miller, former NHRA national event Safety Safari manager, recently replaced Charlie Harmon as the head of ProMedia's event division. Miller has over two decades of drag racing experience and is highly regarded by racers, track operators, and event staff.
