During our recent trip to Germany to report on Callaway Competitions final race of the season, Team VETTE spotted two export C7 Corvettes. These two cars are playing different roles in Europe. The Cyber Gray coupe was on display at the recent Frankfurt Auto Show and appeared to have zero miles on it. The brake rotors were unmarked and it was kept locked during its visit in Callaway Competition’s hospitality suite. It carried a low VIN # of 5000056. This car was on display throughout the three-day weekend. The exterior changes to the new Corvette to make it comply with European standards are minimal.
On Sunday GM European test driver Patrick Hermann arrived with a Torch Red Z51 coupe that is being tested at the Nürburgring. This is the first C7 Corvette we have seen that is equipped with the mandatory front European license plate. Both of these cars will eventually be refurbished and sold to European customers when their display and testing roles are completed. Perhaps a better option for the red coupe would be for it to be sent to Callaway Competition to be converted into the first C7 GT3 racecar!
