It's no surprise that the 2014 Corvette Stingray is garnering all sorts of attention. After all, it's been Chevrolet's key player in performance since 1953. This year, the car is all-new from the ground up and includes many industry firsts like a seven-speed manual transmission and an estimated 29 mpg (highway). We've highlighted some of the powertrain features in previous mentions before.
What's more, just days ago, European testing of the 2014 Corvette Stingray has began. Continuing to provide the automotive industry with firsts, Chevrolet Europe is currently putting two pilot test vehicles through their paces on the streets of Germany, Switzerland, France and even the Netherlands. These two 2014 Corvette Stingray's are the first pair to receive extensive, on-road testing through the streets of Europe.
GM sets high standards so it's of no surprise that these on-road testing procedures are part of the GM standard quality control program which is conducted for each new Chevrolet model before it goes on sale in Europe. Patrick Herrmann, technical manager at Chevrolet Europe stated, "Corvette is a one of the famed names in automotive history and the new Stingray is the most advanced and capable standard model yet. Driving and testing this car is definitely one of the most interesting aspects of my job." We'd have to agree.
Traditionally, testing is conducted behind closed doors, however, this year the tests are being conducted and documented by Patrick Herman, technical manager at Chevrolet Europe. Upping the ante, Herman will be uploading the sights, sounds and performancelive from the road through a variety of social media platforms. Sound like you're interested in what goes on behind the curtains? Herman will be uploading his point-of-view through everything from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and even Instagram using the following hashtag: #C7experience.
