Changing The Magazine - Shop Talk

Over the last several months, you may have noticed that we’ve been slowly revamping the look of the magazine. We haven’t been going crazy, changing the entire format, but simply freshening up the pages with a much more modern feel. If you recall, the last time we addressed this was back in 2006, when we added new departments and gave Chevy High a complete makeover. Over the years, we’ve learned it was a change for the positive, and we certainly want to keep that momentum going.

This time around, we’ve taken into account your opinions, from emails, letters, and random conversations at events, and here’s what we’re doing. Along with the cleaner look, we’re bringing in more Tri-Fives and home- and pro-built street machines as we continue to showcase our favorite Camaros, Chevelles, and Novas. The hard-hitting tech you’re used to isn’t going anywhere. However, it’s important to note that we did add two new sections: In The Spotlight and Tool Bin. Think of In The Spotlight as a quick-reference guide to very specific performance components, while Tool Bin is a way to introduce handy tools that can help with your street machine and engine builds. Both feature quick and easy reading with complete details, part numbers, and cost.

To add to the flavor, we’re going techie. If you don’t already follow us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/chevyhighperformance) or on Twitter (www.twitter.com/chevyhigh), be sure to sign up and check us out. We give a lot of behind-the-scenes looks and details on what we’re up to, such as sneak peeks on upcoming features and stories. We’re already pretty active in the social media world, and we’re only improving on that with one little twist: videos.

I’ll admit it, videos are huge these days, and with monster hosting sites like YouTube, it’s become very mainstream, allowing anyone with access to a video camera to post everything from video blogs to their own motorsport excursions. This also means that wherever we go, you’ll eventually have a front row seat to all the action, including dyno testing sessions, tech installs, and some cover and feature shoots. Personally, I’m digging the fact that we’ll be able to share in-car views from the dragstrip, autocross, and open track events!

Now that you know what we’re up to, here’s how to access the upcoming videos. If you have a smartphone, all you need to do is download the free SIM QR reader application and wave it over the QR code that’s printed in the magazine, which will take you to a specific video. If you’re not into the phone thing and prefer to use your home computer, we’ll have the web URLs available, too. Is there something you would like to see?
