Day 3 of our Week To Wicked builds are always a bit rough. We liken it to building a house. On the second day we frame the house and you can see big parts moving, so you're optimistic. But day 3 is all about the little things that need to be done, but don't make you feel closer to having the car on the road. Number one on the list of necessary, but somewhat tedious, tasks is wiring. Yep, it needs to be done and it needs to be done right, but it's certainly not as exciting as dropping in big parts like the engine.
As for the engine; the Gandrud LT1 engine and Bowler Tremec Magnum six-speed transmission was slid into place late last night, so everyone went to bed feeling like we had a real car in front of us. In the morning reality set in and just like that framed out house we realized there were still a ton of tasks on the to-do list.
Our goal for today, and it will happen before anyone leaves our Motor Trend Tech Center, is to have the body mated to the chassis. It might happen at midnight or in the wee hours of the morning, but it will happen today so we can stay on schedule. For now we're wrapping up the chassis doing projects such as the E-Stopp parking brake install, Ordering, picking up, and installing the 3.5-inch aluminum driveshaft, and bolting on the prototype Doug Thorley LT1 headers. We also did a ton of interior wiring and work on installing the Cold Air Products AC unit under the dash.
Once today is over we'll only have two days left to get our '55 Chevy on the road. Will we make it? Will the project roll into Saturday? Well, you'll just to stay tuned to find out. Look for recap stories all week long as well updates on our Facebook channel and, of course, Instagram postings. There will also be longer-length video coverage of the build posted up on the sites.
