Day 5 Yeah, we've finished a car on day 5 before, but this is a build full of "firsts". It's the first time we've used an LT1, the first time with a manual transmission, The first time we started with essentially a trimmed-out bare shell, the first time with a full interior, first time with power windows, the first time with a complete AC system, and the list goes one. Each of those firsts added a bit of time to the build, so it looks like we will be rolling into day six for our build. Hey, it's Week To Wicked so we technically have 7 days to get it done, even if we do try to finish up on Friday night.
That said this car is being done the right way and not a "slapped together to look done enough for video" way. All the wiring is being finished, all the hoses properly done, and when the car drives out of our Motor Trend Tech Center it really will be a done car.
The main thing going on today was more wiring, which is always one of the toughest aspects of these builds. But we also installed the CPP Hydrastop brake assist system and plumbed it into the power steering. The Falken tires were mounted to the American Legend wheels and we started prepping the fenders to go on. Now, we could have installed the Fenders today, but to be honest it's easier to work in the engine bay without them. Our plan for the rest of today? Simple, keep working at knocking items off of the to-do list and get this car on the road sometime tomorrow.
Look for recap stories all week long on the CPP Week To Wicked Presented by Golden Star as well updates on our Facebook channel and, of course, Instagram postings. There will also be longer-length video coverage of the build posted up on the sites.
