We're halfway through second day of the Speedway Motors Week to Wicked 1952 Chevy build, and so far, the team has made steady progress on uniting all that Advance-Design half-ton sheetmetal to the Speedway Motors "bolt-together" chassis. Did we mention that already? Yes, you read that right: Speedway's complete chassis (or any of its components, from the front and rear suspensions to everything in-between—all of which is designed to work with stock 1947-1953 half-ton frames as well) is completely a nut-and-bolt assembly. So, we've been turning wrenches, as well as drilling holes to insert said nuts and bolts required to attach the forward cab mount pedestals and the running board brackets. (Obviously, if the customer so chooses, any of the crossmembers and/or bracketry can be welded once the chassis is assembled.)
While all that was going on, initial assembly of the Chevy Performance LS3 began, which included the installation of the Vintage Air FrontRunner, Hooker cast-iron exhaust manifolds, and some various plumbing and sending units. Once the Performance Automatic hybrid 4L60E (we'll give you the lowdown on that as we begin the engine/trans install) is prepped and ready to be dropped in, the fuel system can be plumbed, exhaust fabbed up, and the wiring started. We've still got plenty to do, no doubt.
