Four down... one to go. Time's flying, patience levels are depleting, but the Speedway Motors Week to Wicked 1952 Chevy truck still has to meet its Friday night deadline regardless of any obstacles we encounter along the way.
The second half of Day Four seemed like it came and went much quicker than the morning session—but between fitting the front clip for the first time with all the new components in place and getting the bed mounted square, mounting the engine management computer and fuse panel, and ensuring the truck's ride height was not too low in front or too high in the rear, it's almost surprising that we got as much accomplished as we did. But we're not out of the woods yetnot by a longshot.
Tomorrow will without a doubt prove to be the real test—this isn't a cable TV show where clever film editing can turn a couple weeks or even a month into an hour-long program showing what we did in five days. Nope, the Speedway Motors Week to Wicked pickup drove into the Tech Center on Monday under its own power—and it'll leave through the same roll-up doors Friday night in the same fashionunder its own power. Buttoning up all the nuts and bolts is just a fraction of what needs to be completed tomorrow: Jason still has a cold air intake to build; Ryan's got a complete exhaust system to fab up; and there's that not-so-small task of making that computer-controlled drivetrain come to life and run like it's supposed to.
