So, what do you do with a super-clean 1991 Z28 with only 11,000 miles on the odometer? Well, if you’re Rick Mathes you send it over to Hawks Third Generation and have them transform it into a supercharged monster!
Bruce Hawkins, owner of Hawks Third Gen, started by transplanting a 1,300-mile ZL1 take-out engine and Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual into the white drop-top. The team then grafted in a twin fuel pump system to feed the boosted LSA engine and a 12-bolt to handle all the newfound power. Thanks to the low mileage, the car is in pristine shape. And with the plan for modern wheels, bigger brakes, and a stiffer suspension, it should all gel together for one badass third-gen.
