A pinched or improperly seated oil pickup tube O-ring can allow the oil pump to suck up air, resulting in oil pressure drops and oil starvation. This is a common occurrence in the GM LS engine family, as the pickup tube is secured on only one side of the pump by a single bolt. Improved Racing now has a brace available that uses the extra bolt hole on the oil pump to ensure an equal clamping force is exerted on both sides of the pickup tube flange. The brace (PN EGM-500) can be purchased at improvedracing.com or by calling 407.705.3054.
