C85

It didn't take very long at all for tuners and racers to discover the benefits of running Ethanol-based E85 fuel. With low costs combined with increased power, E85 presents a strong case for making the fuel switch, although it does have several drawbacks at the pump. For one thing, its consistency changes from tank to tank, sometimes as much as 20 percent from station to station, which makes tuning for it very difficult. Additionally, it's harsh on components, which makes fuel system maintenance very important. Now, thanks to the fuel masters at VP Racing Fuels, you can simply order up drums of C85, which is mixed under tight tolerances with only the highest quality ingredients. That means you and your tuner will know exactly what you're getting and you will enjoy additional corrosion resistance thanks to several corrosion inhibitors selected by VP. According to VP, C85 is engineered to make up to four percent more power and torque than conventional E85. So really, what's not to love? An Engine's Best Friend

Upgrade your L92/LS3 engine with a set of Diamond pistons specifically designed for street/strip, pro-touring, and off-road LSX builds. Using technology borrowed from Diamond's racing catalog, these new flat-top or dish pistons accommodate bore sizes from 4.005 to 4.130 inches and both stock and 4-inch stroke crankshafts. Built from 2618 conventional forgings, these pistons ship with alloy steel pins, spiral locks, and a standard 1.5mm top and second ring package complete with 3.0mm oil control rings. Diamond engineers positioned the top ring .260 inch from the piston crown, which allows these slugs to handle small nitrous shots or low boost from a supercharger or turbo system of your choice. Of course, you can have these coated in Diamond's Double Coat or you can leave them bare. Diamond Pistons, 23303 Diamond Drive, Clinton Township, MI 48035; 877/552-2112; www.diamondracing.net

Tune It Up

Believe it or not, there once was a time when cracking an ECU and being able to accurately tune it took years, not months, and never weeks. Today, thanks to the gurus at HP Tuners, we barely even have to wait days (it seems) to be able to crack in and lay down some tuning magic. With the new Camaro ZL1, HP Tuners knocked it out of the park again, offering up a fully functional ZL1-specific tuning package for the ZL1 before many dealers even had one hit the floor. Based off of the same HP Tuners system we've come to know and love, the ZL1 calibration files feature all of the adjustability you would expect, along with the ability to properly datalog and control the ZL1 in any driving or tuning situation. You can even try the software before you buy it. Just head to the website to check it out. HP Tuners, 725 Hastings Lane, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089; www.hptuners.com

Saggy Bottom Girls

We've seen far too many nice third-gen F-bodies with beat-up interiors to let this trend continue any longer. If you're still driving or currently restoring your third-gen, we suggest you check out Classic Industries' all-new reproduction seat foam kits. Available for both front and rear seats, these high-quality seat foam kits are manufactured from the same density material as the stock units and have been molded to correct the dimensions and contours of the original buckets. There are four part numbers available, one for the standard '82-'92 interior, one for the '84-'92 deluxe interiors, and two for the backseat based on if your car has a one-piece or split rear setup. Pulley It Up

If you own an LSA-equipped Cadillac CTS-V or Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, just go ahead and order one of these Lingenfelter Performance Engineering two-piece 2.38-inch supercharger drive pulleys right now. Seriously, you're going to end up wanting more power anyway; you might as well start now. Built specifically for the LSA engine, these 10-bolt, eight-rib pulleys overdrive the factory supercharger by 26 percent, which increases boost and adds horsepower and torque in the process. At 2.38 inches, drivers maintain safe blower speeds and levels of boost, which means you won't have to worry about any unforeseen engine issues. Tires on the other hand…well, you may need to keep an eye on them as you get used to the new power. Long Life, Better Tire

We've been running Toyo R888 tires on the STI Killer for a year and we love them for their ability to provide superior grip on the racetrack. On the street, however, we'd need a tire with a lot more life, and for some of you, maybe something that you could drive in the rain or snow. For that, check out Toyo Tire's all-new, all-season Toyo Proxes 4 Plus tires. Available in many sizes and diameters up to and including 20 inches, the Proxes 4 Plus are billed as an ultra-high performance tire with all-season versatility. Best of all, these rollers come with a 50,000-mile treadwear warranty and a 45-day, 500-mile "no regrets" offer, which means you can try them out with virtually zero risk. That sounds like a no-brainer to us. Toyo Tires; 800/442-8696; www.toyotires.com
