As with just about everything you do in life, things don't always go as planned. If they did, then the story you are about to read would cover the final steps D&P Classic Chevy took to complete the Chevrolet Performance Connect-and-Cruise LSA installation into a '70 Chevelle SS.
Unfortunately that is not the case. We ran into clearance issues with the accessory drive, and some parts have not made it to the shop yet. The biggest missing link for the project is the fuel tank; a custom stainless unit was ordered, and things like that take time. There are plenty of other areas that could be wrenched on, and that is exactly what we did in the meantime.
Last month we reported that even though D&P had the engine and trans in the car, there were some clearance issues with the steering components hitting the oil pan, and the stock trans crossmember had issues. New inner and outer tie rods and a crossmember were ordered to cure those problems. We will be covering that in this installment, along with the fabrication of an adapter plate to mount the drive-by-wire gas pedal assembly to the Chevelle's firewall.
