Part 2: Torq finishes up the ProCharger install and tunes for over 500 rwhp

When we left off last time, our '05 C6 was still under the knife at Torq Speedlab in Miramar, Florida. But at last we were finally ready to drop in the ProCharger D-1SC head unit and the charge pipes. We were glad to hear that ProCharger had revised its bracket and drive system since the initial LS2 C6 kit, however, our 8-rib upgrade would ensure no belt slip was possible despite running 11psi. In the interest of completely bulletproofing the supercharger system, Torq also elected to fabricate a custom charge pipe from the intercooler to the throttle body. This accomplished two things: it eliminated a few hose clamps and it allowed us to utilize an LS3 MAF inside a 4-inch tube. The latter would prove most effective in metering with the blow-through setup, where the factory LS2 MAF would easily be pegged well below our airflow capabilities. Since we elected for the tuner version of the ProCharger kit, Torq also supplied us with the necessary fuel system upgrades including top-of-the-line Injector Dynamics 850cc squirters and an MSD fuel pump voltage booster to squeeze more output from the factory pump. 23. Paul used EFI Live and a high-end ECM wideband O2 to dial in the tune on Torq’s Mustang chassis dyno. Since the ‘05’s E40 computer limits injectors to 7.99 gram/sec, the injectors must be scaled so that they do not exceed its limits. Of course the VE tables and other data must be changed to match. When all was said and done, the C6 made 519-rwhp and 469 lb-ft of torque at 11psi of peak boost. This 155hp improvement came at no compromise in driveability either, which was later proved on the road rest with further street tuning.
