The SEMA show is the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world. It attracts the industry’s hottest products to one place, the Las Vegas Convention Center. This freight train of a show keeps chugging down the tracks, bringing all the newest parts and products for the automotive aftermarket. While the show is not open to the general public, it is open to industry and media people, and is now the largest trade show in the United States. Since most of you can’t take the time to trek all the way to Las Vegas and wander the miles of booths, we do it for you. We take notes and talk to the company pitchmen all in an attempt to find the hidden treasures buried in the over 2,000 new products on display. Instead of taking any more time please sit back and enjoy the best products we found at the 2012 SEMA show.
’67-’69 Camaro Stealth Fuel Tank
Engine swaps and aftermarket EFI conversions are becoming incredibly popular, and thanks to Aeromotive’s new Stealth tank, the task has gotten simpler. The Stealth tanks are stock-appearing and come complete with universal 0-90 Ohm fuel sending unit, 340 LPH at 40 psi Stealth Fuel Pump, pre-pump filter, a billet aluminum, and black anodized hanger assembly. They come with all the necessary ports and returns needed to plumb the system. All this is preassembled, powdercoated, and flow and pressure tested by Aeromotive, with a full one-year warranty.
’53-’62 Corvette Classic Update Wiring System
This new kit is a complete wiring system specifically for the modified/pro-touring Corvette. It will handle upgrades like electric fans, aftermarket A/C, gauges, powertrain combos, etc. Like many of American Autowire’s other Classic Update kits, this one includes new ignition/lighting/dimmer switches, as well as new tail lamp sockets and headlight bucket harnesses.
White Lightning Magnum shifter
The T56 transmission is finding its way into more and more classic Bow Ties and one thing that can make the using it much better is a proper shifter throw, location and feel. The White Lightning Magnum shifter from American Powertrain is a short throw unit that has a clockable shifter stub and adjustable spring bias to let you fine tune the position and feel. It features all billet construction, and offers over 60 shift positions.
Dominator Octane Boost
To make sure you can get all the performance out of your high-performance ride, you need to feed it a diet of high-octane fuel. Let’s face it: pump gas octane ratings and consistency are marginal at best. AMSOIL Dominator Octane Boost increases engine response and power in all two- and four-cycle gasoline-fueled engines. AMSOIL claims that just one treatment reduces engine knock, improves ignition and helps fuel burn cleaner. Dominator Octane Boost is also excellent as a lead substitute for collector automobiles. Dominator Octane Boost is available in individual 12-ounce bottles or in a convenient six-pack.
Turbo 400 SuperCase
When it comes to pushing a lot of power through an automatic transmission, a Powerglide is typically used. ATI is looking to change that with the company’s new Turbo 400 SuperCase. The new cast aluminum Turbo 400 SuperCase was designed in-house, cast in the USA, and machined at ATI on a four-axis horizontal CNC machine. It features improved fluid pathways to assure better performance, SFI approval so it does not require any additional shields, has a removable bellhousing that bolts directly to the transmission case instead of the pump, and has been engineered to accept all internal Powerglide or Turbo 400 components.

GT Series Instruments
The newest instruments to come out of the Auto Meter think tank are, as the company puts it, “Part street fighter, and part stealth fighter, all Auto Meter.” The GT Series line of instruments have all the features of other gauges, like digitally controlled stepper motors, solid state sensors, and air core movements. The killer looks come via a true carbon fiber face with through the dial lighting and bright white pointer. They come in 2-1/16-inch for the gauges and 3-3/8-inch for Tach and Speedo in either full or short sweep movements.
High-Capacity Trans Pan
B&M has added the six-speed transmission in the new Camaro to the company’s line of cast aluminum transmission pans. The new pan adds extra fluid capacity to the Camaro’s automatic transmission, while the aluminum construction and cast fins add cooling capacity for smoother operation under high-stress operation. All B&M Transmission Pans feature built-in drain plugs and mounting hardware.

gStreet Frame System
Chris Alston’s Chassisworks has come up with an entirely new way of thinking when it comes to a full chassis. Chris unveiled the new gStreet frame system underneath a ’69 Camaro. The gStreet frame system is a bumper-to-bumper chassis solution for high-horsepower, big-tire, pro-touring first-gen Camaro projects and is now available as an off-the-shelf item. The chassis will accept 305 wide front tires and 345 in the rear with room to grow when tires become available. Other features include double-A-arm front suspension with rack-and-pinion steering, highly adjustable geometry, canted four-link or torque arm with watts link rear suspension. Authentic 57 Series Instruments
The Authentic 57 series from Classic Instruments is a new design with graphics reminiscent of original ’57 Chevy car gauges. Even though the gauges have a classic look, they are stuffed full of modern technology and features. They are all electronic, come with all sending units, and have a five-year warranty.
Comp Cams’ new four-pattern hydraulic roller camshafts are designed to accommodate the differences in runner lengths to avoid valves closing at the wrong times for a large increase in both area under the curve and stability at high rpm. The four-pattern hydraulic roller cams are 100-percent CNC-ground from steel billet cores, feature cast iron distributor gears, and utilize a series of lobes with over 0.600-inch valve lift and stability up to 7,500 rpm, all while providing more consistent cylinder-to-cylinder torque. The cams also feature a tight lobe separation for both excellent performance and a throaty sound. They’re available for big- and small-block Chevy engines in both carbureted or fuel injected applications.

Muscle Car C5 Spindles
This blended design upright is a direct bolt on for GM A, F, and X body vehicles and allows the use of C5 brake assemblies. By using the C5 bearing assembly caliper piston push back is eliminated. Since the taller spindle moves the upper arm, it also improves negative camber gain under suspension load. These are a tall spindle and stock height that fit ’70-’81 F-body, ’73-’77 A-body, ’75-’79 X-body.

The Canalog-MS is designed for customers swapping modern EFI motors into their muscle cars. The unit plugs into the new motor’s EFI computer thru the OBD2 port. It has eight configurable outputs to operate mechanical gauges or the factory dash. Canalog-MS even has an output so you can install a check engine light. It also has the option to connect to your smart phone for diagnostics, logging, and more.

Street Demon Carburetor
Demon Fuel Systems is now making a 625 cfm carb designed for street use. The Street Demon features two 1 3/8-inch primary throttle bores, which contain triple–stack boost venturii. Two of the boosters are suspended across the bores in the conventional way; the third is integrated into the throttle bore walls. This design should produce superior fuel emulsification, to present crisp throttle response, drivability, and increase fuel economy. At the bottom of the secondary bores a goggle valve (GVS) resides. This device delivers over twice the airflow of the primary bores that can be both felt and heard. Its optimized calibration and dual mounting pattern make it run–ready for a large variety of engines and vehicles.

These custom billet aluminum one-piece door handles are a direct replacement for the stock pot-metal parts. Available in a variety of finishes, the handles are machined from a solid chunk of 6061T6 aluminum in the USA. They are not only pretty to look at; they are a lot tougher than the pot-metal ones. They are offered for Camaro, Chevelle, Nova and Tri-Fives.
Next generation self-tuning EFI with ignition control offers a refined, higher flowing throttle body and greater tuning optimization for any engine up to 1,200 hp. Its eight-injector, die-cast throttle body includes ignition timing control and is able to run E98, E85 and E15 ethanol blend fuels. Holley’s new Terminator EFI is a self-tuning, maintenance-free system that requires no computer experience to use or tune. System features include annular discharge fuel ring, self-tuning ECU, serviceable sensors integrated into throttle body, connections for TH350 and 700R4, and other tranny linkages, fits any square (Holley 4150TM) flanged intake, 80 lb/hr injectors support 250-600hp engines, provides ignition timing control, fully potted and sealed ECU. There was a running theme with a lot of products at SEMA, which was the LS swap. Hooker makes these direct fit LS engine swap engine mount brackets (zinc plated) and transmission crossmembers (powdercoated) for second-generation F-bodies. The Inglese Sidedraft EFI systems combine proven FAST electronic fuel injection technology with Inglese side draft styling. Want to do an LS swap but don’t want to hassle with adapting and tuning the OE-style fuel injection system? Check out MSD’s Atomic LS EFI system. The system features integrated fuel rails and ECU with patent pending Wiredless technology, which eliminates the wiring harness. The MSD Atomic EFI LS systems work with return-style or returnless fuel systems, accept mechanical or electronic throttle controls, and automatically recognize 24- or 58-tooth crank trigger wheels. The Master Kits include the fuel rail assemblies with electronics, fuel injectors, wiring harness, power module, handheld programmer, and a wideband oxygen sensor.
6-Speed 4L80E Valve Body
The Powertrain Control Solutions six-speed 4L80E valve body enables the 4L80E to operate as a five-speed or six-speed, and provides electronically controlled engine braking. The PCS engineers studied every inch of the stock 4L80E, until a design was reached that produced factory shift quality in every gear. While the engineers were studying the valve body, they also added a solenoid enabling electronically controlled engine braking, which greatly increases the performance and driving experience when using paddle shifters to downshift. The PCS valve body kit contains a 100-percent factory new valve body, solenoids, plates, gaskets, and internal harness.

RHS Pro Elite aluminum cylinder heads for LS7 applications are now available in fully-assembled versions that are perfect for small and large cubic inch, hardcore street applications. These heads feature a raised intake runner design that fits both stock and aftermarket LS7 intake manifolds and valvetrain setups. They are designed with a 12-degree valve angle and unique 0.220-inch raised intake runners to provide a better line of sight into the cylinders and allow for an improved short turn.

Stainless Steel Brakes is now focusing on the drag racing crowd with the company’s new racing series competition brake systems. The calipers are rebuildable and designed around an off the shelf pad. The aluminum hubs keep weight down without compromising strength, and though these are designed for track use, they are still up to par for street usage.

Flexplate For GM 6L80E Transmissions
TCI developed a precision-ground, high-tensile strength, steel flexplate for 6L80E transmissions like in the fifth-gen Camaro. Each flexplate is 33-percent thicker than stock, helping to prevent elongation and cracking. The flexplate is dynamically balanced to eliminate potentially damaging vibrations, electro-coated to protect against damaging elements and uses low-profile bolts to provide proper clearance. The flexplates feature a dual-bolt pattern of 10.750- and 11.063-inch. The TCI Flexplate for GM6L80E Transmissions is SFI 29.1 approved.
Sport R Foam and Seat Upholstery
Even though stock bucket seats provide more bolster than a bench seat, they still don’t hold you in place like a good set of aftermarket units. The factory seats are just too flat, but many aftermarket seats don’t look right inside a classic muscle car. TMI has cured this issue by combining the best of both worlds. The company now makes new high bolster foam that reconfigure the stock ’70 Chevelle buckets into a high bolster race-type seat and they offer the matching cover for seamless integration.

Steam Line Fitting and Plumbing Kit
The killer little fittings in this kit attach to the corners of the LS cylinder heads, converting them to -4 AN male threads. They’re manufactured from black anodized billet aluminum and include O-rings and stainless steel bolts. The plumbing kits contain the fittings and all of the necessary hose to plumb just the front of the heads or all four corners.

Wilwood has released new Challenge Series big brake kits featuring the latest in disc brake technology. New kits are now available for the popular ’60s-’70s muscle car spindles. Challenge Series kits feature newly designed, 12.88-inch diameter, one piece carbon iron rotors, forged billet Superlite 6R radial mount six piston calipers, and BP-10 compound low-dust Smart Pads round out the friction package. Each Challenge Series kit also includes the radial caliper mounting brackets, wheel bearings, hub seals, high strength 1⁄2-inch 20 wheel studs, alignment shims, and all of the premium-grade fasteners necessary for a secure and precision installation of the brake kit onto the spindles.

Cage Piston Design
Wiseco got a lot of attention with its new cage piston design. The company claims the design resists side loading over older, conventional designs while being stiffer, lighter and stronger. The new cage design is available for LS engines with an 11:1 compression ratio with a positive 4cc dome. This piston features Wiseco’s ArmorGlide skirt coating and comes with a 1/16-1/16-3/16 ring set.
If you want the look and performance of a larger wheel diameter but don’t want the styling to depart from original, then check out Year One’s version of a Magnum style wheel. These cast aluminum rims are available in 17x8- and 17x9-inch sizes with 4.5 or 5.125 inches of backspacing. The rims come fully detailed with a black powdercoating, machined edges all covered with a protective clearcoat. Year one also has the matching SS center caps to complete the look.
