Ten years ago, six-piston monoblock calipers, two-piece floating rotors, and high-performance brake pads were essentially fantasy parts for most C5 Corvette drivers. A complete 14-inch front brake system was practically unheard of, let alone one matched front and rear as a complete bolt-on package for less than the price of a new car. Today, thanks to advances in technology, reduced manufacturing costs, and the Corvette engineering team’s unrelenting pursuit of perfection, such a braking system comes standard on every C6 Z06 shipped from the factory. Even better, it can now be retrofitted to any C5 Corvette (or non-Z06 C6) without much more than a weekend of your time, a couple of handtools, and a quick call to Zip Products.

Wearing PN DB-792, Zip’s C6 Z06 package is much more than just a couple of OEM parts stuffed in a box. Along with the factory Z06 calipers (six-piston front, four-piston rear), the system ships with upgraded two-piece rotors (14-inch front, 13-inch rear), high-performance Hawk Performance ceramic brake “padlets,” cut-to-length braided stainless-steel lines, and all of the bolts, washers, and lubricants necessary to complete the swap without making any trips to the hardware store. For just under $3,600, you get true supercar braking with showcar good looks—and the peace of mind that comes from knowing your braking system can handle anything from a complete a panic stop on the street to a full 100-plus-mph decel entering Turn 7 at Sebring.
