Saleen Celebrates 30 Years – Introduces Anniversary Models

Saleen has been creating powerful street machines since 1984 with the mantra of being a speed, science, style trifecta. To most, the name is synonymous with the dreaded Blue Oval, but those who delve further into the history of Mr. Steve Saleen himself might find that he is a man who has devoted his entire life to producing power and styling unique to his namesake. As a celebration of thirty years as a specialty vehicle manufacturer, Saleen Automotive will be creating 3 variations of its SA-30 model including a Saleen 620 Camaro.

“Through our automotive passion we celebrate every day that we are able to continue to design, develop, and produce the cars that we manufacture,” said Steve Saleen. “Once every five years, I celebrate the achievements with the automotive community through a commemorative vehicle.”

The Saleen Anniversary series, or SA series, has become a group seriously coveted among collectors and enthusiasts as production numbers are low. A total of thirty Saleen SA-30 vehicles will be produced – ten Saleen 620 Camaros, ten 570 Challengers, and ten 302 Mustangs. While the thirty will be divided into three different base-platforms, the common thread of being part of the strong Saleen racing heritage ties them together.

As thirty years marks the “pearl” anniversary, the line-up of SA-30 vehicles will be available in only one color combination: “Tire Smoke” pearl white Saleen paint accented with Speedlab yellow and black painted components. To finish off the look, color-matched pearl white Saleen wheels will reside in all four corners.

Inside, each vehicle’s stock interior will be completely overhauled with SA-30 insignia on a serialized dash plaque, interior badging, and SA-30 carpeting. Black leather seating will be completely refreshed with perforated Alcantara treatment. An option offered to consumers will include a complete reconfiguration of the interior in the form of a two-seater Fastback setup, which means removing the rear seat and deck before a true racecar type fabrication transformation takes place. Panels are custom formed to separate the cabin from the trunk and a race-style cross-brace ties the rear shock towers to reinforce the structure and improve handling.

“When we began exploring some new Saleen styling that we wanted to debut with the SA-30 vehicles, we knew that we wanted something that spoke of our ‘Born of Racing’ heritage and a rear seat delete came as a natural choice for the SA-30”, said Sean Smith, Design Director. “Through the fastback design and we were able to add a lot of refinement to the interior while still retaining the racecar environment.”

So what powers each SA-30 vehicle? Each will feature a Saleen supercharger, but horsepower ratings will vary for each SA-30 platform with the Mustang topping out the group at 625 horsepower. That’s really all we know for now when it comes to what might be under the hood. We do know that each vehicle will also come equipped with a Saleen suspension package like those seen on current Saleen production vehicles as well as yellow powder-coated Saleen brake kits as standard equipment on all SA-30 cars.

The expected MSRP for SA-30 models is set at $95,000 before options. To order your own Saleen 620 Camaro, contact a Saleen dealership or Saleen directly and for more information visit www.saleen.com.
