Here’s a trio of interesting cars that we found in different auctions and/or for sale online.
1976 Nova Two-Door Sedan
Seems like we’re starting to see more disco-era Novas pop up at shows with some real work being put into them. Problem is, finding two-door models, let alone ones in good shape, can be tough. We found this on our local Craigslist. For $3,800 you get a rust-free, all original ’76 Nova in fantastic shape. Drop in an LS motor, bolt on some suspension upgrades, and you end up with one budget-friendly street and autocross sleeper.
1969 Chevelle Project
If you’re looking to start a new Chevelle project, this one could be yours. Another local Craigslist find, This Dover White/black vinyl top car looks a little rough, but for $2,990 you get a complete, original V-8 factory A/C car. And since all the body parts are made for these, fixing it up isn’t that difficult.
1967 Chevelle Wagon
If a rat rod wagon, or just a wagon project is more what you’re looking for, this one could be for you. Not often you see ’66-’67 wagons these days. This one is running and driving—it even has power steering. For $3,200 you get a hauler with a TH350 trans, 4.11 gears, bucket seats, and enough interior space to haul your crew anywhere.
1956 210 Two-Door Sedan
This one is a great Tri-Five starter project. According to the ad, it has a rebuilt ’72 vintage 400 small-block, rebuilt TH350 trans, new brakes (including lines), new gas tank, all the lights work, stock gauges in working condition, new tires, and the owner also has all new glass for the car. All the trim is there along with the seats in decent shape. For less than $10k you could have a two-door ’56 driver that you could work on while still enjoying cruising around in it.

Dave McLellan Engineering Scholarship Established
Mid America Motorworks and the Yager Family have established a scholarship in the name of Dave McLellan, retired Corvette Chief Engineer and Father of the Corvette ZR1. The David R. McLellan Engineering Endowed Scholarship will benefit mechanical engineering students at McLellan’s alma mater, Wayne State University in Detroit.
“Dave is not only a friend, but someone I respect for what he has contributed to the Corvette platform,” said Mike Yager, founder and Chief Cheerleader of Mid America Motorworks. “My hope is that this scholarship will assist young enthusiasts enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering program to become the future of Corvette Engineering.”
Chevrolet Performance to Sponsor NHRA U.S. Nationals
Starting in 2014, Chevrolet Performance Parts will become the title sponsor of the historic NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis on Labor Day weekend. This is a fitting sponsorship, since Chevrolet Performance’s involvement with NHRA racing goes back 40 years.
“The heart and soul of Chevrolet Performance is on display in the staging lanes at the U.S. Nationals, making this partnership with one of the most historic races in NHRA Drag Racing all the more important,” said Jim Campbell, General Motors U.S. Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “Our engineers are continually developing new engines and engine components for sportsman and professional racers; and events like the U.S Nationals are their proving ground.”
Bow Tie Celebrates its 100th Birthday
The year 2013 marks the centennial for the most recognized symbol of automotive power and quality in the world. For 100 years, the Chevrolet Bow Tie has been at the front of the best cars and trucks to roam America’s roads, and the world’s.
In 1913, Chevrolet co-founder William C. Durant introduced the signature Bow Tie on the 1914 Chevrolet H-2 Royal Mail and the H-4 Baby Grand, centered on the front of both models.
Today more than 60 million Chevrolets are on the road, and this emblem has adorned 215 million Chevys over the last century. A Chevrolet car, crossover or truck is sold every 6.39 seconds in one of 140 countries, and the brand set a sales record of 2.5 million in the first six months of 2013. The Bow Tie’s centennial is marked by new entries, such as the Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel compact sedan in the U.S., and the Trax small SUV in 40 international markets.
