My Daughter Wants Her Vette Back

This was my daughter's Corvette. She owned it for 10 years, but only drove it for three before she started her family. It was stored in her garage for the remaining seven years, where her kids used it as a dollhouse. She eventually sold it to me, so she could free up space in her garage to build a playroomI treated the car to a total body-off restoration, then had it judged by the NCRS. It scored a Top Flight 98.6. Recently, I added some of my own touches-including wire wheels, exhaust, and other goodies-but I've held on to the factory parts. The car has received more than 75 First Place, Platinum, Gold, and Best of Show trophies.

Here's a picture of my '82 Vette and my wife's '97. Hers was a 20th anniversary present from me. It has a B&B exhaust, a Blackwing air filter, and a reprogrammed computer. My Vette is mostly stock, with a performance transmission and a rear-gear change to 3.55. Other than that, it's all factory, though I did redo the paint in 2001.We average about 1,000 miles a year on each Vette. We've been to Bowling Green in the '97 and the Bob McDorman Chevy Show in the '82.

'92 C4 Coupe
Here's a photograph of my one-owner '92 Corvette. It was picked as one of 55 Corvettes from all across the country to take part in the 100th Anniversary celebration of General Motors. The six-day Corvette caravan started in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and culminated on September 16, 2008, at the Renaissance Center in Detroit. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime event for my Corvette and me.The car is signed by several special people within the Corvette community: Zora Arkus-Duntov, Dave McLellan, John Heinricy, and Johnny O' Connell.

'65 C2 Coupe
'88 C4 Convertible

These are our two Corvettes. The '65 was purchased in 1984. We went to look at a '57 Chevy, but the car had already been sold. The seller also had the Vette available, so we bought it. We bought the '88 in 1998 and drove it on the 1999 caravan from Seattle to Bowling Green. The '65 is a rare Maroon/Maroon 327/365 four-speed. It went through a frame-on restoration in 2006. Since then, it's taken many First Place awards at Corvette car shows. Barb's '88 is Medium Blue Metallic with a Blue interior and a Black top. This color combination is also rare. Both Vettes get a lot of attention on the road.

I've loved Corvettes since I was 16. I owned a '60 but smashed it up when I got out of the service after Viet Nam. After that, I waited to buy another one. I now own a '94 Corvette LT1, and it's running great.
