On the right is my first Corvette, a black '05 LS2 with a Lingenfelter cold-air induction, LG Motorsports headers, a GHL exhaust, and a ported throttle body and intake from Corey Harris. It's not a real Z51 car, but it now has the Z51 shocks, sway bar, and springs. The red '99 FRC is my twin brother's. It has an aftermarket cam, an LS6intake, FLP long-tube headers and crossover pipe, a Vararam cold-air induction, and a B&B PRT exhaust. The car has black Z06 motorsport-style wheels and is lowered on aftermarket bolts with Bilstein sport struts.

We purchased our '03 in December 2002, with a Corvette Museum delivery on February 28, 2003. What a great way to receive a new Corvette! It was well worth the money and time. The car has just 10,400 miles and has been the winner at several shows.

The '70 was an eBay purchase and a great lesson in how not to buy sight unseen. It required more than $40,000 and 16 months to reach the state it's in now. The rebuild included a new frame, lines and hoses, engine, suspension, wiring, and radiator. We also upgraded to power brakes.

In an effort to match the '70 to the '03, we had the bodywork painted in '03 Anniversary Red. The interior was changed to '76 Smoke Grey to come as close as possible to the Shale interior of the '03. The car has accumulated 8,700 miles since the rebuild and has only failed once, due to a faulty ignition switch.

I purchased this '09 convertible in August 2008. It's Victory Red with the 3LT option, an automatic transmission, and a custom decal. Prior to this car, I had only owned used Corvettes. These included '65, '67, and '68 convertibles; a '76 coupe; and a '95 convertible. I'm a retired airline mechanic with 40 years of service. Keep up the good work on VETTE.

My first Corvette was a'70 Marlboro Maroon 350/350 coupe, which I purchased in my senior year of high school. I knew I was hooked for life.

I currently own four Corvettes. I bought my '68 427/390 British Green convertible more than 20 years ago. The power was awe-inspiring, and I wanted more. That led to a '98 LS1coupe with 61,000 miles.

My wife finally gave in to my love of the Vette and surprised me on my 50th birthday with a '64 327/365 coupe (not shown). Shestole this one for$7,000from a woman who had been awarded the car in her divorce settlement. After 34 years in theU.S. Air Force, my retirement present to myself was an '08 Atomic Orange 4LT convertible. I'm now trying to convince my wife to add a C1 and a C4 to my collection and make it a complete family.

I've been reading VETTE for years and finally feel my car is worthy of "The 'Glass Menagerie." It's an '07 Z06 2LZ that I bought brand-new on July 24, 2007, from Service Chevrolet. It has 4,923 miles on it, and its upgrades include Modular Concept wheels (19-inches up front and 20-inches on the rear with Michelin PS2 rubber), a Halltech Killer Bee intake, LG Motorsports long-tube headers, and B&B Fusion mufflers. I'm saving the car for my son, because I want him to experience a real Corvette when he's old enough to drive it. I plan to give it to him when he's 40. At least I'll get to drive it for a while--he's only 2 years old now.

True Confessions

For me, only special-edition Corvettes will do. It started as a child growing up in the south suburbs of Chicago and watching my father restore his Vettes. He always told me I needed to buy one. After working my way up from a Mustang GT to a Trans Am WS6,I finally made it to my first Vette, a '96 Grand Sport Coupe (#758/1,000). Iboughtwhen I lived on Maui. I knew this was the beginning of something special.

Later, I moved back to the mainland and settled in Arizona, bringing my Grand Sport with me. I eventually sold it, but soon realized I needed another Vette. What better model to replace the Grand Sport than an '04 Commemorative Edition Z06 (#998/2,025)?

It didn't stop there. Soon after, I purchased an '03 50th Anniversary Convertible withthe Z25 package, making me the proud owner of two limited-edition Corvettes. Now, a Corvette is the only car I will drive.I'm truly a special-edition-Corvette girl.
