2001 Chevrolet Corvette C5 Coupe

This is our '01 Corvette coupe, which we purchased from a friend in June 2008. The car is Quicksilver Metallic with a Torch Red interior, Z06 wheels, a six-speed manual, a B&B exhaust, and dual tops. It has 26,000 miles. We've owned two other Corvettes prior to this one, a '75 coupe and an '82 Collector Edition Hatchback.

My first Vette was a '58 Fuelie, which I raced in Class B production events with the SCCA and the California Sports Car Club back in the late '50s and early '60s. The car was my everyday transportation. I drove it to the races on the weekends and then home afterwards. For racing, I removed the windshield and installed a bolt-on rollbar.

1992 Chevrolet Corvette C4 Convertible

We bought our Black Rose roadster new in 1992. When we first saw the car on the showroom floor, we couldn't stop staring at it. (My wife Byllye's favorite color is purple.) Eventually, we decided to trade in our '79 L82 and drive the car home. "Rose" has been a big part of our family ever since. Her factory options include the FX3 Selective Ride and Handling suspension, the AQ9 Sport Seats, the G92 Performance Axle Ratio, the V56 Luggage Rack, and the UJ6 Low Tire Pressure Warning Indicator. I've added a Corsa exhaust, Hella headlamps, and a K&N air filter. She was featured, along with Byllye, in your Aug. '94 "Calling All Ladies" issue. She has only 27,700 miles and is as nice today as she was when we took her home that first night. She's fast and beautiful and still gets a lot of attention when she steps out.

Did I Get A Good Deal?

1966 Chevrolet Corvette C2 Coupe

I've owned this '66 Vette since 1972. I paid $2,700 for it because it was in exceptional shape and had low mileage. That was about $1,000 more than what other Vettes were going for at the time.

1967 Chevrolet Corvette C2 Coupe

This is my '67 C2 coupe, which I've owned for almost 30 years. I completely restored the car by myself. It has an L36 427/390 with a Turbo 400 automatic transmission, A/C, and only 30,100 original miles. It won the First Junior Award Trophy at the AACA special meet in San Juan on March 3, 2007, and it's going for a Senior Award this year.

This photo was taken during the 2008 Mid America Motorworks Funfest in Effingham, Illinois. "The Three Amigos" (my two friends and I) have attended the event for the past eight years. Please consider including the picture in an upcoming issue. I've been a VETTE subscriber for 10 years, and I love reading the magazine.
