Besides the rad cars, miles of walking, scantily clad girls signing autographs, loads of people, and Vegas, there is more to the annual aftermarket gathering of the Specialty Equipment Market Association, simply known as the SEMA Show. Take, for example, the new products, which is what SEMA is all about in the first place. There's something for virtually every type of vehicle you could possibly fathom. Anything and everything related to the automotive field is displayed throughout the never-ending aisles lining the buildings. For those of you who couldn't make it out this year, we've gathered here only a sliver of all the cool products we saw. As for the countless others, I'm sure you'll run into them somewhere down the road.

From Classic Performance Products (175 E. Freedom Ave., Dept. SC, Anaheim, CA 92801, 714/522-2000, www.classicperform.com) are new '55-'57 tubular control arm sets. The new control arms add 5 degrees of caster, provide full wheel travel, and minimal friction. The control arms are manufactured from 1-1/4 0.120 wall DOM tubing to eliminate distortion. The arms also feature an interlocking sleeve design to prevent hardware from working loose. Pivots carry forward and back loads. The arms are a complete bolt-in installation with no modifications required
MSD (12120 Esther Lama, Ste. 114, Dept. SC, El Paso, TX 79936, 915/857-5200, www.msdignition.com) now has a performance distributor to replace the OEM GM LT-1 Optispark. It's machined from an entire billet block of aluminum down into a precise housing that fits in place of the factory piece. Then it's filled with a reliable new pickup assembly, a trick timing adjustment mechanism, and an all-new MSD distributor cap. The pickup is an advanced optical encoder, which is a different style of optical pickup than the OEM. This style has proven to be very reliable and stable through extreme rpm conditions. The rotor is bolted to a drive assembly that is indexed to the shaft, and is stabilized through the use of a large ball bearing assembly. Once installed, you have the ability to adjust the ignition timing-the only distributor that offers timing adjustability. An adjustment screw allows the timing to be tweaked up to +/-5 degrees. The distributor is equipped with a fresh air vent, and has an extra-thick mounting surface for the cap to eliminate leaks. The distributor is supplied complete with heavy-duty LT-1 cap, rotor, and the components required for installation.
New from Lunati (11126 Willow Ridge Dr., Dept. SC, Olive Branch, MS 38654, 662/892-1500, www.holley.com) is Voodoo Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshafts. The new Voodoo cams feature 30 years of cam design experience with more recent developments in profiles, geometry, and tolerances to deliver the most aggressive ramp profiles ever used in hydraulic flat tappet cams, and asymmetrical lobe designs with slower closing sides set the valve down easy to reduce noise and premature failure of the valvetrain.
The Voodoo Chevrolet small-block ('57-present) camshaft delivers more area under the curve than any other series of hydraulic camshafts. This means more throttle response, quicker acceleration, more vacuum, and better efficiency combined with maximum horsepower and torque. This cam works excellently in TPI Injection applications. It makes approximately 19-inch vacuum at idle, has slightly noticeable idle, works with stock converter, A/C, power brakes, and stock valvesprings in most cases.
Electric-Life (5990 Northwest Hwy., Dept. SC, Chicago, IL 60611, 773/467-0200, www.electric-life.com) has designed the first ever power Reverse Hood Kit. At the touch of a button, the Reverse Hood Kit is designed to lift up, move forward, and open in reverse. Electric-Life's kit utilizes power actuators and a patent-pending cam lever design to move the hood out of the way of any valance or front body paneling. Smooth operation is guaranteed with gas shock stabilizers and rear hood-machined Delrin axial guideway. The Power Reverse Hood Kit is available in two configurations-bolt-in and universal fit. The universal kit can be installed in any vehicle with a traditionally front mounted hood over the course of a weekend with minimal welding and fabrication. Electric-Life's bolt-in kits require no fabrication, and can be installed in a single afternoon with handtools and an electric drill. Every Power Reverse Hood Kit comes with 200-pound actuators, a plug-and-play wiring harness, billet aluminum Street Dreams brackets, a power ignition safety cutoff, a six-channel keyless entry system, gas struts, and an manual emergency entry cable.
