1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible - The Big Top

The Roadster Shop installed the wiring harness from American Autowire, the Classic Update Kit specifically designed for '55-57 Chevys. The only place to turn for interior was CARS Inc., longtime supplier of complete interior kits for classic Chevrolet products. Carpeting was trimmed for the Lokar shifter and placed on the floor.

Cars Inc. designed the interior in this factory-style silver with black trim that seriously wakes up the inside of our '57. Tom Gottschalk was the Roadster Shop interior man on the spot to install the interior.

With rear panels installed, Tom bolts the rear seat in place. Rear seats in the convertible are not as wide as the sedans and hardtops to accommodate the folding top mechanism.

Lokar Performance Products supplied the shifter and the throttle and brake pedal assemblies. The Lokar shifter operates with solid adjustable linkage, and comes with a neutral safety switch, positive safetylock- out in Park and Neutral, and Teflonlined button in the shifter knob for simple and smooth operation.

Metal bands are used to mount the rear seat interior panels. Note the Electric Life power window motor in place.

Because the Project American Heroes rendering called for a custom interior, the Cars Inc. people stepped up and custombuilt these buckets. The seats are mounted using brackets fashioned by the Roadster Shop team.

Chad Glasshagel and Jim Taylor then tackle the door panels, being careful to measure cutouts for the door handles and vent window handles.

The interior definitely has a very cool personality, the Dakota Digital gauges, Flaming River Steering Wheel, Lokar shifter and pedals, and Cars Inc.- designed seating makes for a very strong look.
