Barnyard cars and other hidden treasures are among our favorite stories. Many of them are unbelievable, but make great tales for after-hours bench racers. Seems as though most of them involve stumbling through a forest in the wilderness and discovering long-forgotten old cars covered in tarps that are peeled back to reveal a pristine example of automotive history. But what about when guys who actually work at a magazine come in to the office and tell you that right here, in Southern California, there's a junkyard that holds a sizeable quantity of first and second F-body cars? Sure, and how long of a lunch did you guys take, and how many shooters were involved? No. Really, it exists, and the guys told me where. I went and took these photos, and I didn't even have to drive that far. We can't mention the exact location as that was part of the deal to take the photos, but we can tell you none of the cars are for sale. The owner of the yard has accumulated these cars over many years and can tell stories about driving them. Some are wrecked, but some were still running when they were parked here. All of them appear salvageable in this day of repro body panels and suspensions, but that isn't the plan. They are someone else's property and will remain so, at least for the present, but it's still quite the story, and it's true. We swear it.

This '67 got our attention because except for the damage on the front, the rest of the car is pretty solid. Heck we would throw away the front suspension anyway, get some repro body panels, slap in an LS motor, and...oh well, we like to dream. | 
Okay, how about this? If Camaros get too hard to find, how about we just re-skin some Firebirds with Camaro sheet metal and fake it? That ought to drive those Pontiac folks crazy, huh? | 
Is this considered a plethora? We really have been looking for some way to use that word. |

There are two or three ragtops, and they really are "ragtops" but that could be taken care of rather quickly, that is if we could get our hands on one. |
