Let’s see. A chance to donate to a worthy cause AND win both a classic and a brand-new Camaro. Not really seeing a downside to this situation, do you?
Every year, the Dream Giveaway Group puts together a special series of sweepstakes that help fund specially selected partner charities working to raise money for a variety of worthy causes. But the special twist that DG Group crafts with its charitable work is to giveaway either one or a pair of vehicles that will give someone a chance to win something they’ve always dreamed of, while at the same time helping to fulfill the dreams and hopes of those in need.
Putting together the right types of vehicles for the sweepstakes can be a daunting task, which is why Dream Giveaway Group works with special partners like the gearhead pros at Lingenfelter Performance to make sure that what people see a chance to win is so irresistible that their minds start imagining the thrill of being behind the wheel, even before the first ticket is purchased.
For its latest sweepstakes, Dream Giveaway has followed the ever-popular recipe of offering a pair of “bookend” vehicles, one classic and other modern, so people entering the sweepstakes have a chance to satisfy their dreams of owning an American classic along with a modern version of said classic. With the 2017 model year being the 50th anniversary of the Camaro, it seemed only fitting to pair a brand-new 2017 Camaro ZL1 with a complementary 1967 Camaro. The one that started it all with the one that carries on the tradition proudly. Dream Giveaway Group’s Christopher Philip talks about the special charities that will benefit from the sweepstakes for the two Camaros.
“Who wouldn’t want to win two matching, high-performance Camaros? Since every donation is tax deductible, you’ll feel good knowing you’re helping great military and children’s charities like Disabled American Veterans (DAV), National Guard Educational Foundation, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and more. If you win, I guarantee you that these two Camaros will change your entire life.”
The ’67 Camaro RS being given away was originally sold in Knoxville, Tennessee. Like many Camaros it survived the decades going through numerous incarnations to suit the owners’ tastes. Finally, Brian Burchfield got his hands on the car, tore it down, and treated it to a full rebuild while adding some modern parts to bring the rally sport into the Pro Touring world with Detroit Speed suspension, Wilwood brakes, Vintage Air climate system, and a host of other goodies. For power, Brian decided to break from the norm of installing an LS engine, and instead went with a classic, built 402 big-block backed by a TREMEC TKO five-speed. Painted in original Tuxedo Black, it is the perfect blend of classic with modern.
Matching up with the ’67 is a brand-new, early production 2017 Camaro ZL1. The most powerful Camaro to ever leave the factory, the new ZL1 carries on the traditions set by its ancestors in terms of performance, handling, fantastic looks, and sheer magnetism. But for this sweepstakes a “plain” ZL1 just wouldn’t get it done, so Dream Giveaway partnered with Lingenfelter Performance to develop a special package to complement and accentuate the sixth-gen super car’s already stellar performance. Gone is the factory 1.7L blower in favor of an Edelbrock unit that helps kick peak horsepower up to the 750 mark. Head and cam upgrades, special exterior accents, paint and badges, special interior, and a serialized dash plaque denoting it as the first Lingenfelter package ZL1 to be produced.
