Dream Vette 2.0
Who: David Fisher Where: Little River, SC What: ’99 Corvette hardtop
Several years ago, I bought the Vette of my dreams, a Cyber Gray ’10 ZR1. Shortly after I bought it, I was laid off from a job I’d held for more than 10 years, which forced me to sell my dream car. Soon after, I landed a new job, and decided to purchase an older Vette.
I was looking for a black-on-black six-speed C5, with a head-up display. Once I found this one, I decided that I wouldn’t allow it to be taken away, so I paid cash and planned my upgrades.
Over the last two and a half years, I’ve added a ProCharger supercharger, Corsa X-back exhaust, 3-inch diameter long-tube headers with high-flow cats, a new custom cast 3.90 rearend, new two-stage clutch with new master and slave cylinders, and a new short throw shifter. I’ve also installed a new racing timing chain, water pump, high-flow fuel injectors and fuel pump, and a high-pressure oil pump. Inside, I had the dash modified to support a double-DIN navigation system. Finally, I added a carbon-fiber hood and had the seats redone in new black leather with red stitching.

Who: Bob Scarff Where: Forest Hill, MD What: ’06 Corvette coupe
This is my ’06 Monterey Red Vette that I purchased new, equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and Z51 performance and handling option. It’s my first Vette, and I have been modifying and upgrading it ever since.
Upgrades include a Magnuson M122 “roots type” polished supercharger, a COMP Cams custom blower-grind camshaft and “918” beehive valvesprings, a ported and polished 90mm throttle body, a Melling ported high-volume oil pump, a GM heavy-duty roller timing chain, a DeWitts high-flow aluminum radiator, Kooks’ ceramic-coated long-tube headers with high-flow cats and X-pipe, MagnaFlow stainless steel after-cat exhaust with quad 4-inch tips, Lingenfelter SV2 supercharger hood and cold air intake system, and a Lingenfelter ZR1 dual-disc clutch.
To the body, I’ve added a Z06 rear wide-body conversion with ZR1 fender extensions, ZR1-style body-colored side skirts and carbon-fiber front spoiler, custom “wing style” body-colored rear spoiler, custom body-colored rear hatch louvers, carbon-fiber rear diffuser, and Specter Werkes’ GTR-style rear taillights.
All the go fast goodies and dyno tuning have yielded 532 rwhp and 481 lb-ft of torque.
I belong to the local Corvette club, and enjoy taking it to club events and shows.
