Personal Hauler

1966 El Camino
Jim Wersching
Bartlett, Illinois

El Caminos are fun rides and we dig this 1966 that's been submitted by Jim Wersching. Jim's owned this gem for the past 33 years and originally purchased it from a salvage yard for the paltry sum of $200. Fast forward to today, and he completely rebuilt the Elco out of his garage. His powerplant of choice is a 0.030-over 327ci that's been well driven with 125,000 miles on it, a three-speed on the floor, bucket seats, console, power steering, and a 12-bolt rearend with 3.73:1 cogs. The chassis itself has over 350,000 miles on it, with Jim putting well over 200,000 miles on it himself. Considering it's his daily driver during the Midwest summers, we can see how the mileage can add up with such a fun ride.

Eye Candy

1968 Camaro
Edward Detter
Dover, Pennsylvania

Edward was a man with little words, but he told us just enough to drool over his 1968 Camaro. For get up and go power, there's a 350hp, 355ci small-block underneath the hood. His suspension of choice includes tubular control arms up front while a four-link setup is employed out back with QA1 coilovers all around. When it came to aesthetics; only a custom candy apple orange with white stripes would do.

Super Nova

1970 Nova
Ryan Saiki
Kuna, Idaho

The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree; and in this case, young Ryan Saiki is very much like his dad and has a passion for fast cars and drag racing. Ryan's latest acquisition is a 1970 Nova with a built 408ci small-block. His go fast list includes a pair of AFR 227 cylinder heads, an Edelbrock Super Victor intake, and a 1,000-cfm carb. Behind the bullet is a Turbo 400 trans with a 5,500-stall converter, and a 9-inch rearend with 4.30:1 gearing. His best e.t. to date is 10.48 at 130.8 mph on the motor with 28x10.5 MT slicks at a portly 3,300 pounds.
